Our Mandate

As the central planning body of Puntland, our department plays a crucial role in:

• Policy Development & Implementation: Formulating and executing state and national development policies.
• Public Policy Management: Implementing standardized policy procedures for all ministries and agencies.
• Strategic Planning and coordination: Leading the preparation and coordination of the Puntland Five-Year Development Plan (PFYDP) to guide the government’s progress.
• Public Sector Coordination: Aligning institutional policies and plans across government ministries and agencies.
• Macroeconomic Policy Formulation: Designing economic strategies to achieve sustainable growth.
• Multi-Level Planning Integration: Ensuring alignment between district, regional, state, and national development plans.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Organizing the Puntland Development Forum (PDF) to foster collaboration among government institutions, private sector actors, and development partners.
